I used National Geographic Interactive Trip Planner Deluxe to make these maps and calculate distances. This program was designed to plan out driving trips, and not walking odysseys, so the calculations are just as close as I could get with the tools available.
We have tried to make it as accurate as we could with what we used. I did try to put in places that he names throughout his story as best as I could, but some places I had to put in to calculate the distance, as he'd take a different road or no road.
Please keep that in mind when viewing the maps.
